Public Transport (MARTA)

Explore Atlanta Like a Local

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is the city’s main public transportation system — connecting visitors to airports, hotels, shopping centers, universities, and cultural landmarks all across the city.

MARTA includes both trains and buses, making it easy to travel between key destinations without a car. The trains are modern, clean, and air-conditioned, running along four main lines — Red, Gold, Blue, and Green — that connect major areas like Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, and Decatur.

Whether you’re visiting Atlanta for a short trip or staying longer for school, MARTA offers an affordable and reliable way to get around. A single train ride costs around $2.50 USD, and you can transfer between buses and trains using the same card or mobile pass.

The Essence of Atlanta’s Transportation

Atlanta is a growing, vibrant city, and while many locals drive, MARTA gives visitors independence and accessibility— especially for international travelers who may not want to navigate car rentals or U.S. traffic rules.

The Airport Station is located directly inside Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, allowing travelers to go from plane to train in minutes. Within 20–25 minutes, you can be in the heart of Downtown — near attractions like the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Centennial Olympic Park.

For students and long-term visitors, MARTA makes it easy to commute to Georgia State University, Clark Atlanta University, Georgia Tech, and Morehouse College — all accessible by train. The system also connects to major shopping areas like Lenox Square Mall and cultural neighborhoods such as Little Five Points, known for its art and local boutiques.

For Iranian visitors, MARTA’s clear signage, maps in multiple languages, and simple fare system make it a friendly option for exploring without stress.
