Public Transport (MARTA)

Explore Atlanta Like a Local

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is the city’s main public transportation system — connecting visitors to airports, hotels, shopping centers, universities, and cultural landmarks all across the city.

MARTA includes both trains and buses, making it easy to travel between key destinations without a car. The trains are modern, clean, and air-conditioned, running along four main lines — Red, Gold, Blue, and Green — that connect major areas like Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, and Decatur.

Need to know:

How to Pay:

  • Purchase a Breeze Card from any MARTA station vending machine or use the Breeze Mobile App for contactless payments.
  • The card costs $2 and can be reloaded for multiple trips.
  • Each ride costs around $2.50 USD, and transfers between trains/buses are free within 3 hours.

Operating Hours:

  • Trains run 5:00 AM – 1:00 AM on weekdays and slightly shorter hours on weekends.
  • Buses operate on regular schedules — check the MARTA website or Google Maps for real-time arrivals.
